New CIA Director John Brennan was sworn in this week on a 1787 copy of the constitution from the national archives, instead of the Bible:
“Director Brennan told the president that he made the request to the archives because he wanted to reaffirm his commitment to the rule of law as he took the oath of office as director of the CIA,” Earnest said.
The Constitution itself went into effect in 1789. But troublemaking blogger Marcy Wheeler points outthat what was missing from the Constitution in 1787 is also quite symbolic: The Bill of Rights, which did not officially go into effect until December 1791 after ratification by states. (Caution: Marcy’s post has some strong language.)
That means: No freedom of speech and of the press, no right to bear arms, no Fourth Amendment ban on “unreasonable searches and seizures,” and no right to a jury trial.
How … symbolic?
There are two possible reasons for a new office holder to refuse to lay their hand on the Bible while swearing an oath, as has been the tradition in America for over two centuries.
On the one hand, he may refuse because he intends to break his oath, and therefore wants to avoid swearing on the Bible and the inescapable accountability to God that it would bring.
The other possibility is that he doesn’t respect the Bible as a sacred document and views it as too “religious” (or contrary to his own religion), and therefore seeks to publicly demonstrate that he is not accountable to the God of the Bible.
Either way, it shows what a dangerous radical Obama has chosen to lead the one organization in the U.S. that holds our most closely guarded secrets.
Don’t you feel safe, now?
Brown shirts gotta stick together.
Labor unions and Hollywood donors are open to bankrolling Organizing for Action, the outside group that has been formed in support of President Obama’s second-term agenda.
Traditionally one of the biggest donors to Democrats, unions are considering putting their financial weight behind the group as it tries to harness the grassroots power of Obama’s reelection machine.
[...] Organizing for Action will reportedly have access to the voter database that helped the president win the White House again in his more than $1 billion reelection bid. Jon Carson, who worked in the White House Office of Public Engagement, is the group’s executive director.
To the dismay of campaign finance reformers, Organizing for Action will operate as a 501(c)(4), a tax-exempt vehicle that was used during the 2012 campaign to evade donor disclosure while spending hundreds of millions of dollars on campaign ads.
Where’s McCarthy when you need him?
This is the same guy who in 2010 called jihad a “legitimate tenet of Islam.”
He’s also responsible for the White House leaks of secret information about the Osama Bin Laden raid to Hollywood producers, which put the lives of Navy Seals in jeopardy.
The man is a traitor who belongs in jail, not at the helm of our most important intelligence agency!
Just when you thought that Chuck Hagel was as bad as it was going to get, wait until you meet John Brennan. America, meet your new CIA Director.
Brennan gave a speech to Islamic law students at New York University, where he was introduced by Ingrid Mattson, president of the Islamic Society of North America. Mattson, who had been involved with the Obama inaugural prayer service, had come under fire then for her organization’s longstanding terrorist support.
During his NYU speech, Brennan defended the administration’s highly unpopular move to try al-Qaeda operations chief Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in federal court (which the administration eventually backed away from). He claimed that terrorists are the real victims of “political, economic and social forces,” said that Islamic terrorists were not jihadists, referenced “Al-Quds” instead of Jerusalem, and described the 20 percent of former Guantanamo detainees returning to terrorist activities as “not that bad” when compared to ordinary criminal recidivism.
During a talk at the Nixon Center in May 2010, Brennan said that the administration was looking for ways to build up “moderate elements” of the Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah.
Two weeks later, at a speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Brennan defended the Islamic doctrines of jihad as “a holy struggle” and “a legitimate tenet of Islam.”
And Brennan has had a great track record so far. A truly spectacular track record which makes him unambiguously qualified to replace Petraeus.
[A] known top U.S. Hamas official had been given a guided tour of the top-secret National Counterterrorism Center and FBI Academy at Quantico under Brennan’s watch, several former top intelligence and defense officials again called for his resignation.
Last month, it was revealed that Brennan was implicated in a serious intelligence breach detailing an ongoing counterterrorism operation led by British and Saudi intelligence agencies that had placed an operative deep inside the al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) organization. The White House leak forced the termination of the operation and the immediate withdrawal of the double agent, infuriating our foreign intelligence allies.
Just two weeks ago, internal White House documents obtained by Judicial Watch through a FOIA request revealed that Brennan and other White House officials had met twice with Hollywood filmmakers preparing a movie about the killing of Osama bin Laden, providing them unparalleled access including the identity of a SEAL Team 6 operator and commander along with other classified information. Amazingly, these high-level White House meetings between Brennan and the Hollywood filmmakers took place just weeks after the Pentagon and CIA had publicly warned of the dangers posed by leaks surrounding the successful SEAL raid killing bin Laden.

Politics is always downstream from culture. A voter’s worldview is shaped long before they start seeing campaign ads. They are bombarded with marketed messages from government schools, media, music, movies, art, etc. their entire lives…from people who want to sell them ideas, not just products and services.
Pop culture is an area that was ceded to liberals long ago, and most conservatives seem to underestimate its importance in getting your message out to future citizens long before they’re old enough to vote.
The conservative band “Madison Rising” is calling Republicans out on their willful neglect of this strategic area:
Congratulations to the GOP for losing the easiest election of our lifetimes. Over the past four years, Obama has been exposed as a liar, a fraud, a charlatan and a scam. We’ve seen his policies of racism, divisiveness and class warfare tear at the fabric of our society on a daily basis. We’ve seen the national debt go up by $5 trillion during his watch. We’ve seen the value of the dollar go down dramatically over that same time. We’ve seen ambassadors killed overseas while he sits around and laughs it up with daytime talk show hosts. On top of it all, we’ve seen an endless amount of buyer’s remorse from people who voted for him the first time around and swore they would never do it again. Yet, even with all of this – and an economy in complete shambles – we still lost. The obvious question would have to be how is that possible? Well forget voter fraud, the Electoral College, how much we spent or anything else; at the end of the day the answer is clear and simple – we lost because, no matter how many times they talk about it, Republicansonce again missed the boat on popular culture.
[...] First of all, we need to understand that popular culture trumps politics every time. Why? Simple: logic and rational arguments are not cool, they’re not fun, they’re not easy and they’re not inspirational. Pop culture on the other hand, is – by definition – all of these things. Pop culture is what we do every day. Pop culture influences what we say, what we think, what we watch, how we dress, what we eat, what we buy and how we act. Ultimately, pop culture is what defines us both as people and as Americans.
Right now, as pathetic as it may be, our front line in the culture war is the Tea Party movement. Unfortunately, these organizations and their events are about as far from “parties” as humanly possible. In fact, the whole thing is more like a tea funeral, actually. Sure, they were effective for a year or so as a way of galvanizing support and aggregating people who felt frustrated and alone, but in reality these groups – especially given they way they are currently run – are completely unsustainable. After all, there are only so many times you can stand there and watch the same twenty people screaming at a podium about the same twenty things for four or five hours at a time. Yes, they truly are funerals in every sense of the word – boring, dreary, draining, unappealing, exhausting and most of all – they are killing the conservative movement.
The same thing seems to be true of the RNC itself, as well as the vast array of non-profits organizations that are supposed to be helping us educate voters, grow our base and win elections. From what I’ve seen, they’ve failed miserably at all three. Not only have they failed, they’ve absolutely refused to do anything innovative, to change their thinking in any manner whatsoever or to make any attempt at all to leverage the power of popular culture. Now maybe I’m biased, because you see, the focus of my life is on using popular culture to get pro-American messages out to people. To fill a void in the entertainment industry. To show the world that American culture is alive and well, and that it’s okay to love your country, respect our troops and show some gratitude for all the things we so often take for granted as Americans.
The way I do this is through music. You might have heard of the band I manage – it’s calledMadison Rising. We’re somewhat of an anomaly in the music industry, being a pro-American rock band and all. Turns out we’re not really very welcome in that environment. Fortunately though, that hasn’t stopped us from becoming a #1 best selling artist, spending 15 weeks on the top 100 list on the Amazon music charts this past summer and having over 3 million people already watch our rock rendition of the Star Spangled Banner on YouTube.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that we’ve done all of this with virtually no marketing budget, and with no help, cooperation, exposure, reinforcement or other assistance whatsoever from the any of the conservative organizations that are supposedly so concerned with taking America back, with winning elections and with getting people – especially younger people – aboard with the conservative message. Imagine that – we’re sitting here with the perfect conduit and the perfect vehicle for everything they claim they want to do, yet they’ve completely ignored us.
[...] Pop culture can spread a message. Pop culture is fun. Pop culture is embraced and promoted – consciously and subconsciously – by millions and millions of people 24 hours a day. Pop culture is subtle and habitualized, as opposed to politics which is jarring, boring, repulsive and worst of all – completely ineffective.
Let me make this clear, the biggest problem conservatives face in any election is appealing to younger people. The powers that be need to recognize that the swing vote in every election is the younger demographic and the only way to get that vote is by changing people’s perception of what is cool. If conservatives can’t do that, everything else they do is a complete waste of time.

It’s going to take the fight of our lives to get our nation back, but we can do it.
Remember that politics is always downstream from culture. The Left is winning the culture war through their successful takeovers of education, entertainment media and news media. By the time we try to educate voters, they’ve already been indoctrinated for years to accept the Leftist worldview. It’s time to stop playing catch-up and start taking back education, media and the culture at large.
What’s more likely to determine the course of your nation’s destiny? A narrow focus on robocalls in selected Florida and New Hampshire counties every other fall? Or determining how all the great questions are framed from the classroom to the iPod to the movie screen in the 729 days between elections?
Americans missed an opportunity to change course. And now the years ahead will be bitter and difficult. Our politics will be a zero-sum game, where benefits for some mean cuts to others, and a president who promised unity will inaugurate a new era of division.
But it need not be an era without hope. The same principles that built this Republic can save it again. Indeed, those timeless principles are the only solution, the only vision.
Our fault, as a nation, was to forget the lessons of our own success. Having triumphed in a global, decades-long struggle against collectivism and totalitarianism, we refused to celebrate that victory, failing for twenty years to teach its lessons to the next generation.
And as Andrew Breitbart often reminded us, the most important battles must be cultural ones, because culture and media inevitably shape the political choices we make together.
That war must begin anew. And it begins now.
It is not simply a battle over whether the establishment or the Tea Party leads the Republican opposition. It is not just a search for the next presidential contender. And it is bigger than the ongoing fight against the mainstream media–a weakened but still formidable enemy.
The war is a fight for the hearts, minds, and souls of the American people–waged every day, in culture as in politics.
Conservatives need to prepare the ground for their return to power. They need to make the arguments for ending the welfare state. They need to make the arguments for destroying the ascendant — politically savvy — forces of jihad at home and abroad. They need to argue against defense cuts even as the Obama-appointed Joint Chiefs of Staff abandon strategic reason for personal promotions.
And they need to write the books, produce the movies, found the television stations, and prepare the school curricula that will enable a future resurrection of the American dream.
Christian Bale Honors Chen Guangcheng With Human Rights Award For Fighting Forced Abortions In China
It’s refreshing to see a celebrity using their influence to draw attention to REAL human rights abuses.
While Hollywood starlets are pledging allegiance to Obama and decrying the ridiculously contrived “war on women” (asking women to pay for their own birth control? Oh, the horror!), Christian Bale has been bringing attention the work of Chen Guangcheng, a blind Chinese lawyer who was brutally beaten and isolated under house arrest for defending women who were being kidnapped and forced to undergo abortions against their will – their babies ripped from their wombs and murdered.
Last year, Bale tried to visit Chen while he was in China promoting a movie. He got no further than the edge of the village before Chinese officials roughed him up with his camera crew and chased them out of the area. Chen miraculously escaped a few months later and was able to gain asylum with his wife and children in the U.S., although his mother and brother have suffered retaliatory abuses back home in China.
On Thursday actor Christian Bale presented blind forced abortion opponent Chen Guangcheng with an award at the annual gala of Human Rights First. In December 2011, while Chen was still in China under house arrest, Bale attempted to visit Chen but was roughed up by thugs, who prevented him from visiting Chen’s village. Bale said at that time, “What I really wanted to do was shake the man’s hand and say ‘thank you,’ and tell him what an inspiration he is.”
Chen dramatically escaped house arrest and arrived in the United States in May 2012. The two men met for the first time tonight, when Bale presented Chen with the award.
Bale praised Chen for his bravery and for symbolizing the hopes of the people of China to live in freedom. Significantly, Bale also highlighted Chen’s fight against forced abortion in China. Bale stated,
“He [Chen] had exposed a program of forced abortion and sterilization in Shandong. A program of forced abortion means that women are being dragged from their homes against their will. They are being forced to have abortions, sometimes late-term — imagine that — with some women reportedly dying in the process. Now this is true horror. And in this insane world, this man, Chen, who was helping these women — who was living by some of the most simple, brave and universally admired values – values that we teach our children every day, and helping our fellow man – for this, this man was imprisoned and beaten for over four years.”
Reggie Littlejohn, President of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, stated, “Chen Guangcheng is a towering champion of human rights, who with incomparable courage, stood alone against the Chinese totalitarian regime. The women of China and the world will long remember his bravery on their behalf.”
“At the same time,” Littlejohn added, “Christian Bale has become a human rights champion in his own right. He risked his safety to visit Chen last December. His attack by Chinese thugs brought visibility to Chen’s case. This visibility greatly helped the international effort to free Chen. And Bale is brave to condemn the practice of forced abortion in China. Women’s Rights Without Frontiers salutes both men.”

Set to air on the National Geographic Channel two days before the Presidential election, “SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden,” is billed as the “real inside story behind the manhunt and raid that took down al-Qaeda’s notorious leader, told through the eyes of the military and intelligence teams involved.”
But rather than focusing on the heroes who carried out the mission, President Obama now takes center stage in the film, with voice-overs, still photographs and archival footage being added after “SEAL Team Six” was purchased in May for a reported $2.5 million by Harvey Weinstein, a big supporter of the President.
Not only that, Meghan O’Hara – a producer for Obama supporter Michael Moore’s films “Fahrenheit 9/11,” “Sicko” and “Bowling for Columbine” – was the one hired to gather that extra footage.
A report in the New York Times said the new footage serves to “strengthen Mr. Obama’s role and provide a window into decision-making in the White House,” a move the report says will “bolster claims that the 90-minute film amounts to a political stunt.”
Indeed FrontPageMag.com called it an “Obama Infomercial From Michael Moore’s Favorite Producer” which they say is essentially “about the man that sat on his ass while they (SEAL Team Six) risked their lives.”
The additional material will definitely not include footage of President Obama speaking at a $35,000 per person fundraiser this summer at the Connecticut home of the movie’s producer, Harvey Weinstein.
But all may not be rosy on the propaganda front. A group of veterans opposed to Obama are buying ad time during the movie to run anti-obama commercials:
A group of ex-soldiers are buying TV ads attacking President Barack Obama that will run during the first showing of a pro-Obama movie created by his Hollywood backers.
The group, dubbed OPSEC, is buying the anti-Obama ads on local cable systems in swing-state cities like Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Denver, Las Vegas, Charlotte, Raleigh, Cincinnati and Richmond.
“There is nothing acceptable about playing politics with national security and American lives,” says Scott Taylor, former Navy SEAL and president of OPSEC, in an voice-over on the ad. “Aren’t some things more important than politics?”
That just makes me smile.
If you haven’t seen this yet, now is your chance!
This is a MUST SEE before the election! Click on the link below, watch it, share it, and make sure all your friends and family have a chance to be fully informed before voting.
From the Amazon description:
Just in time for this year’s Presidential election, don’t miss the must-see documentary that has the entire country talking. Best- selling author Dinesh D’Souza takes viewers on a journey into Barack Obama’s past and present and suggests how his experiences will affect our country’s future.
This is one of the most disturbing things I’ve seen in a long time: the kind of cult-like adulation you see in Banana Republics, God help us!
No, it’s not satire.
I am in shock that this is real. This is the type of insane hero worship we are up against folks. If we win, there’s going to be fallout. If we lose, it’ll be worse.
Hollywood has taken political propaganda to a new level this week with the release of “The Obama Effect.”
The production glorifies the ‘08 campaign through the eyes of a man who just had a heart attack and needs a new purpose in life. The character joins the Obama campaign and begins a (creepy) cult-like worshiping of the then unknown one-term Senator. His manic obsession leads to marital strain, quitting his job and a run-in with his gun-obsessed, cocaine-snorting Republican nephew who is “anti-black people,” even though he himself is black.
The Orwellian take-home message at the end of the trailer — they actually say this –is:
“Anyone who is with the Obama Campaign is gonna be alright!”
The irony here is that an Obama valentine like “Effect” couldn’t hit theaters if it weren’t for the Citizens United case the Left hates with such a passion.
Box Office Mojo reports that the film took in only $73,000 after opening in 25 theaters over the weekend.
In contrast, Dinesh D’Souza’s anti-Obama documentary, “2016,” made $31,750 in the same weekend from just ONE theater.
I can’t wait to see this!
“2016: Obama’s America” features an interview with the president’s half brother and opened in a single theater in Texas over the weekend, where it grossed an impressive estimated $31,750.
An anti-Obama documentary featuring an interview with the president’s half brother opened in a single theater in Texas over the weekend and, despite alleged complaints from some consumers who were upset with the film’s content, it grossed an estimated $31,750, a strong showing for any independent release.
The film, 2016: Obama’s America, based on conservative author Dinesh D’Souza’s book The Roots of Obama’s Rage, had a free, promotional screening at Edwards Houston Marq’E Stadium 23 & Imax on Thursday. Management had planned to show it in one of its medium-sized auditoriums, but bumped it to one the multiplex’s largest rooms and turned away 200 people.
Sources say some moviegoers sat in the aisles Thursday and waited as much as 90 minutes to meet D’Souza and Gerald Molen, one of the Oscar-winning producers of Schindler’s List, who was a co-producer of 2016 along with Doug Sain. For some of its regular showings over the weekend, the theater offered 2016 on multiple screens, including three sold-out auditoriums for the 7 p.m. Friday showing.
If the weekend estimate from the movie’s distributor, Rocky Mountain Pictures, holds when final numbers are reported Monday, the film will have bested the per-theater number posted by the Al Gore documentary about global warming, An Inconvenient Truth, which opened to $123,549 in four theaters in 2006 for a per-theater average of $30,887.
[...] 2016 had been scheduled to expand to 120 theaters on July 27, but Sain said he’s confident that Rocky Mountain Pictures can bump it to about 400 theaters given the initial popularity of the film.
The disgusting and violent vitriol being spewed against this woman for daring to share her opinion supporting traditional values is inexcusable, but predictable coming from people who believe they can reinvent their own moral standards and excuse any behavior in defense of their ideology.
They don’t believe in freedom of speech or dissent. They don’t believe in freedom of religion or conscience. They don’t believe in “tolerance.”
They are determined to impose their radical ideology as the national orthodoxy, and anyone who dares to disagree publicly will get a target on their back. That’s the Leftist definition of “civility.”
Jane Pitt’s son Brad has been so seduced by the Left’s lies that he doesn’t even have the moral fortitude to denounce death threats against his own mother and defend her right to speak opinions that he and his friends disagree with. So much for their hypocritical claims to “compassion” and “tolerance.”
Hollywood and the American left love diversity, except when it offends their “progressive” value system.
Witness the reaction to actor Brad Pitt’s mother, Jane, who publicly opposed President Obama’s re-election. Mrs. Pitt’s pro-life, anti-gay marriage statement to her local paper last week enflamed the Tolerance Mob. And her mere expression of dissident political views exposed the glittering hypocrisy of the left-wing “No H8″ campaign.
In a letter to the editor for Missouri’s Springfield News-Leader, Mrs. Pitt responded to another reader who argued that Christians should not support Mitt Romney because of his Mormon faith. Arguing for interfaith tolerance, she praised Romney’s “high morals” and “business experience.” The celebrity mom urged “prayerful consideration” from fellow Christians before voting for Obama — “a man,” she pointed out, “who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage.”
Self-appointed Tinseltown anti-bigotry cops blew their tops. The Hollywood Reporter labeled Mrs. Pitt’s letter “anti-gay.” Gossip website Global Grind, founded by rap mogul Russell Simmons, called her “homophobic.” Perez Hilton, an L.A.-based gossip website operator and hanger-on to the stars who fronts the “No H8″ gay-marriage movement in California, pounced on Mrs. Pitt as “mommy dearest.”
Hilton angrily scrawled across a photo of Mrs. Pitt with her son: “A vote for Romney is a vote for God.” After taking obligatory potshots at Christians, Hilton, who calls himself the “queen of all media,” fumed: “Ugh! How can one woman birth such a beautiful boy, but have such unattractive views???”
You want ugly? Hilton knows ugly. He’s the same trash-mouth blogger and former beauty pageant judge who attacked Miss USA contestant Carrie Prejean with misogynistic profanities in 2009 because she said she opposed legalizing gay marriage at the federal level in favor of states’ rights to put the question up for a vote. “She lost not because she doesn’t believe in gay marriage,” Hilton railed. “She lost because she’s a dumb bitch!”
You want ugly? When word of Mrs. Pitt’s letter spread on social media late last week, Twitter lit up with a stream of death threats, smears and slurs. My Twitter curation site, Twitchy.com, compiled just some of the vile bileaimed at Mrs. Pitt for supporting traditional values and standing up for the unborn..
Brad Pitt is well known for being a typical Hollywood liberal. He and his long-time girlfriend Angelina Jolie even once said they would never get married until homosexuals could, as well.
But it looks like Brad’s liberalism is in direct contrast to the values his mother tried to teach him. She recently penned a letter to her local newspaper in rebuttal to an author who claimed that Evangelicals couldn’t vote for a Mormon.
I have given much thought to Richard Stoecker’s letter (“Vote for Mormon against beliefs,” June 15). I am also a Christian and differ with the Mormon religion.
But I think any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon.
Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney’s opponent, Barack Hussein Obama — a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage.
I hope all Christians give their vote prayerful consideration because voting is a sacred privilege and a serious responsibility.
Of course “tolerant” liberals showed their “civility” by unleashing a torrent of sexual slurs and death wishes against her.
Will Brad stand up and defend his mother’s right to express a respectful opinion on the issues without being subjected to such hateful vitriol? Will he point out the selective anger of liberals who scream that her pro-Romney letter is “bigoted,” while excusing the anti-Mormon article she was rebutting?
Somehow I doubt it. If there’s anything the supposedly “tolerant” Left excels at, it’s double standards and hypocrisy.
If it involves honoring our troops or patriotism of any kind, Obama will find a way to shun it, especially if he can make a buck by doing so.
Apparently tiring of US soil as a source of campaign dollars, the Obama campaign is headed overseas — with its celebrity friends in tow. The European Obama campaign starts next week in Paris on July 4 with a reception organized by various fundraising heavy-hitters. Independence Day fundraisers in Paris – now that’s a flag-waving campaign.
The Obama campaign will host events in Geneva, Switzerland in August as part of their “European outreach effort.” George Clooney will headline a fundraiser there, with 150 tickets going for $20,000 per piece. There’s even more to the bargain: if you go as a couple, the second ticket is half-off!
With the Obama campaign’s increasingly desperate campaign emails begging for cash from the American people, perhaps the campaign thinks they’ll find more fertile soil outside the country.
Remind me not to watch any more of Clooney’s movies.
Anyone who thinks Communism is Biblical clearly hasn’t read the “Communist Manifesto” or studied Biblical Economics.
Jesus Was A Commie. That’s the title of actor Matthew Modine’s short documentary film that’s been winning film festival awards and critical acclaim.
In Jesus Was A Commie, Modine, who wrote, directed, acted, and narrated the film, says:
According to the Bible, Jesus and his followers chose to own nothing, and shared their belongings. There were no needy people among them. Those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales, put it at the Apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need. By this definition, Jesus and his followers were communists.
“I think that you could define [Jesus] as a Utopian communist, where people would work together to solve our problems,” he told The Christian Post, in a recent interview. Modine (Full Metal Jacket, Married to the Mob, Vision Quest, and the soon-to-be-released Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises) further remarked: “The film is not so much about Jesus or communism, but it’s about cooperation.”
Mr. Modine, like so many other Hollywood leftists and their harder-core Marxist-Leninist brethren, would like to have it both ways. They want to co-opt Jesus Christ and Christianity as their own when it serves their purposes, while at the same time denouncing essential Christian beliefs (especially on issues of sexual morality) and orthodox Christian believers as the real impediment to the realization of paradise on earth.
The Communist Party USA (CPUSA), naturally, finds Modine’s new film “inspiring,” and uses it in a live-stream online video of a recent presentation entitled, Was Jesus a Communist? (Pictured above) The program featured Communist Party functionary Roberta Wood as host, along with Rev. Tim Yeager and Pat Flagg as the commentators.
Rev. Yeager, of Grace Episcopal Church in Oak Park, Illinois, is Chairperson of the Communist Party USA’s Religion Commission. Pat Flagg is a member of the Commission. Yeager is also Financial Secretary/Treasurer of the National Organization of Legal Services Workers, United Auto Workers (UAW) Local Union 2320. In addition to his national CPUSA and union activism, Yeager is also an activist in Chicago-area politics, such as the Occupy Wall Street movement.
A capsule of some of Yeager’s more noteworthy communist and leftist activities is provided on Keywiki, the very useful data site of New Zealand researcher Trevor Loudon.
In a friendly interview with People’s World, official news publication of the CPUSA, Yeager further expounded on the Modine film and his own dialectical synthesis of Christian-Communist unity.
“Jesus called upon his people to be bold for justice,” Yeager told People’s World. “He says the same thing that Karl Marx says at the end of the Communist Manifesto: fear not, stand up, move into this new era, be free, you have nothing to lose but your chains.”
The Modine film fits in well with The Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement, which the Left has high hopes of using to reinvigorate the effort of the 1960s to draft Jesus as the leader of the Marxist-Leninist vanguard. A prime example of this liberation theology recrudescence is Occupy Faith NYC, which has brought together many of the veteran leftist church activists to provide OWS a sham Christian face. Judson Memorial Church and Riverside Church, two of Manhattan’s longtime centers of Marxist agitation posing as Christian activism, have been in the forefront. Prominent among the Occupy Faith NYC clergy are Senior Minister Stephen H. Phelps of Riverside Church, Rev Michael Ellick and Rev. Donna Schaper of Judson Memorial Church, Feminist Activist Theologian Dr. Rev. Rita Nakashima Brock, Unitarian Universalist Rev. Jeremy D. Nickel, openly homosexual Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson, and Rabbi Arthur Waskow. Rabbi Waskow is better known for political activism than spiritual depth, having been a key founding member of the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), one of the most influential centers of Marxist activity over the past five decades.
One of the most eminent “Marxist-Christian” OWS spokesmen is Cornel West, Princeton University’s fiery professor of philosophy. Dr. West, a frequent speaker at the communist Brecht Forum in New York City, is fond of referring to himself as ”a Jesus-loving black man.” However, it is difficult to listen to his vitriolic, anti-capitalist rants without getting the notion that his appeals to Christianity are merely intended to make his Marxist message more acceptable to a wider audience. Over the past year, West has been on a national speaking tour with Carl Dix (see here and here) a founding member of the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP), a fanatical Maoist organization notorious for violent street confrontations.
Mao Zedong, hero to the RCP, earned unparalleled infamy as the greatest mass murderer in history. Many of those he killed were, of course, Christians, and his successors now running the Communist Party of China continue his legacy of jailing, torturing, and murdering Chinese Christians. Prof. West and many of the other “Christian Marxists,” apparently prefer to identify with the Communist murderers rather than the Christian martyrs, the oppressors rather than the oppressed.
The Communist regimes in Moscow and Beijing provided Fidel Castro with instructions on dealing with Christians, which in Cuba meant the Catholic Church. Mao’s representative, Comrade Li Wei Han of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in 1959, sent a communiqué to Castro’s new Communist regime explaining the subversive approach to “converting” Christians to Communism. Comrade Li wrote:
The line of action to follow against the Church is to instruct, to educate, to persuade, to convince, and, gradually, to awaken and fully develop the political conscience of Catholics by getting them to take part in study circles and political activities. By means of these activities, we must undertake the dialectical struggle within religion. Gradually, we will replace the religious element with the Marxist element.
Of course, Castro faithfully employed these methods — along with the customary Communist practice of outright persecution for those “uncooperative” Christians who insisted on following the Gospel according to Mark rather than the gospel according to Marx.
Castro and other Marxist-Leninists look to the first Soviet dictator V. I. Lenin for guidance on all matters. Lenin, in his 1905 work,Socialism and Religion took to task those outspoken Communists who alienated potential Christian allies by publicly brandishing their atheism and their contempt for religion. Lenin wrote:
It would be stupid to think that, in a society based on the endless oppression and coarsening of the worker masses, religious prejudices could be dispelled by purely propaganda methods… That is the reason why we do not and should not set forth our atheism in our Programme; that is why we do not and should not prohibit proletarians who still retain vestiges of their old prejudices from associating themselves with our Party.
Lenin was speaking then as one who was not yet in power, as one who needed to use unwitting Christians as allies to attain power. That was a public utterance aimed at assuaging concerns that Communists are hostile toward religion. Privately, in a 1913 letter to the famous Russian author Maxim Gorky, Lenin left no doubt as to his own prejudices, calling even the idea of god “unutterable vileness.” According to Lenin:
Every religious idea, every idea of a god, even flirting with the idea of god is unutterable vileness of the most dangerous kind, “contagion” of the most abominable kind.
Once he had attained power, Lenin could afford to be more candid. In his 1920 instructions, Tasks of the Youth Unions, Lenin writes:
For a Communist, morality as a whole consists of total discipline and solidarity [with the cause] in the struggle against the exploiters…. Any morality that is taken outside its class conception we totally repudiate…. Morality is completely subordinated to the interests of the proletarian class struggle.
Writing to Foreign Affairs Commissar Georgy Chicherin in 1921 Lenin stressed the Communist virtues of lying and deception: “Telling the truth is a bourgeois prejudice. Deception, on the other hand, is often justified by the goal.”
The Communists and their allies and Christian dupes have been religiously following Lenin’s gospel of lies and deception ever since.
Message to anyone, anywhere who is thinking about providing crucial intelligence to America in the war on terror: Obama considers his re-election more important than your safety or America’s national security, and he is more than willing to out you for his own benefit.
The Obama administration did not do enough to protect the Pakistani doctor who led the CIA to Osama bin Laden’s hideout, allowing Pakistan to send him to prison for 33 years for treason, says GOP Rep. Peter King.
King said that the administration gave away the doctor’s name and discussed the DNA samples he collected to verify it was bin Laden living in the compound in Abbottabad.
“This has been handled very poorly right from the time of the raid,” King told FoxNews.com.
King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, is the latest voice to express outrage that Pakistan convicted Dr. Shakil Afridi to 33 years in prison for treason. Afridi ran a fake vaccination program for the CIA and was able to collect the DNA required to determine it was bin Laden living in the compound the CIA raided in May of last year, killing the al-Qaida leader.
Pakistan has since expressed outrage over the secret raid, and has repeatedly said the doctor committed a treacherous act by helping the American government locate the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks.
King, a Republican from New York, said that Obama’s team should not have spoken about the doctor and his program, effectively giving away his identity.
“They put him out there,” said King adding that he is unaware of any efforts the administration made to get the physician out of Pakistan. “I’m focused on that they disclosed his identity.”
Afridi was sentenced to 33 years in prison on Wednesday for conspiring against the state — in a trial that was conducted under a draconian tribal justice system in Pakistan’s storied tribal belt, although his alleged crimes against the state did not happen in that region of Pakistan.
The handling of the case has infuriated U.S. officials —whose relationship with Pakistan has been strained for months over the raid and other matters — because it was conducted under the aracane Frontier Crimes Regulation, which was imposed when Pakistan was under British rule. He was tried without a judge, and an employee of the local government oversaw the case. The law allows that employee to declare guilt or innocence and even impose sanctions on members of the defendant’s tribe.
Afridi did not get a lawyer but was given a chance to defend himself. He can appeal the verdict.
