Abortion, breast cancer, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and pro-life alternatives
Abortionbreastcancer.com is an organization that is getting the word out to women of all the risk factors that can lead to breast cancer. Please take some time to go to their website and tell others about them. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is October.

Like many families, my grandmother and great-grandmother both had breast cancer. The issue of wanting to fight what harms your family or friends is noble. So when I tell people that I do not support Susan G. Komen an organization that exists to “fight breast cancer”, I normally get the look of one: why would you abandon your family or two: oh there goes one of those extremist.
However, my reasons are not that extreme, but rather principled.
I’m sure many of you reading this article have also been confronted with the issue of, “if I ‘m pro-life, how can I support an organization that supports the nation’s leading abortion provider?” Hopefully, the following principles can shed some light on how to respond sympathetically, yet firm with why you cannot wear pink, or join the race, or all the various ways that Susan G. Komen is supported.
Principle # 1 Don’t give to organizations that promote the shedding of innocent blood.
If this were a list of commandments, we could start with Thou Shall Not Kill. However, Proverbs 6:17 states that one of the seven things God hates are hands that shed innocent blood.
Unfortunately, Susan G. Komen has given over $3 million dollars between 2003 and 2008 to Planned Parenthood which is the nation’s leading abortion provider.
While Susan G. Komen makes claims that these grants go for breast exams, once the funds go to Planned Parenthood they are fungible. For example, you can throw two twenty dollar bills into a purse one from a friend and one from your own account, but when you go to pay the light bill you use both.
The same is true with Planned Parenthood’s money it receives from Komen. Whenever someone applies for a grant they can say that while this $5,000 is going to breast cancer research, 20 percent of that money is going to pay for administrative costs like keeping the lights on and paying rent. So in essence, the money that people are raising to fight breast cancer is also going to keep the lights on at Planned Parenthood.
According to the 2008 Annual Report from Planned Parenthood, breast cancer services decreased by 4% and abortion procedures increased by 6%. In 2008, Susan G. Komen gave $731,000 to Planned Parenthood.
Principle # 2 Know and Recognize the Risk Factors for the Disease You are Trying to Prevent.
There are certain risks that can increase an individual’s chance of getting breast cancer. While Susan G. Komen says that they believe in knowing your risk factors, they have repeatedly denied the link between breast cancer and one of the greatest avoidable risk factors, abortion.
According to Dr. Angela Lanfranchi, “29 out of 38 worldwide epidemiological studies show an increased risk of breast cancer of approximately 30% among women who have had an abortion.”

‘Imperfect’ kids teach life lessons
We’ve become a culture both welcoming and deadly to people with disabilities. On the one hand, the law requires that they have access to buildings and employment opportunities, and children with disabilities are mainstreamed in our schools.
As a country, we’re more sensitive about the words we use (think of the deserved uproar when White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel called opponents of his health care plan “retarded.”) It’s wonderful to see changes in our laws and attitudes that inspire compassion and respect for people like Michael. While he doesn’t fit the imagined mold of a “perfect” child, he still has rights that are protected by law.
But only if he’s lucky enough to be born.
For preborn children with disabilities, our culture’s desire for perfect children too often proves deadly. Prenatal testing, now routine, spots markers of future disability or disease. Sometimes that testing saves lives. Most often, however, a prenatal diagnosis of disability such as Down syndrome spells death.

The Discovery Attacker: A True Green Believer
News Wednesday afternoon that an armed gunman had entered the cable TV headquarters of Discovery Communications in Silver Spring, Maryland and begun taking hostages alarmed people throughout the Washington, D.C. area and around the country. As law enforcement officials negotiated with the suspect, posts on social media outlets inevitably began arguing over the ideological motivations of the hostage-taker, James J. Lee. Conservatives were quick to point out the suspect’s radical environmentalist manifesto, while left-leaning sources disclaimed any connection. News a few hours later that the suspect had been shot and killed by police spawned a round of smug black humor, concluding that he had been successful in accomplishing one of his chief demands, a smaller world population.
The immediate verdict from the online world seems to be that Lee was simply insane, even as differently motivated voices tried to pin the source of his insanity on each other. If we take a step back, though, we can look at the demands he made — which law enforcement officials said “mirrored” those in his online manifesto — and see the wider context of Lee’s beliefs.
His focus on population control is clear from the beginning. Lee demands that the Discovery Channel and its affiliates must “Focus…on how people can live WITHOUT giving birth to more filthy human children since those new additions continue pollution and are pollution.” On the topic of immigration, he recommends that we “find solutions to stopping ALL immigration pollution and the anchor baby filth that follows that” and in order to safeguard the future of wildlife, he writes that doing so “means stopping the human race from breeding any more disgusting human babies!”
While his rhetoric is crude and offensive, that doesn’t mean his ideas don’t have wider currency. From the time of Paul Ehrlich’s infamous 1968 manifesto The Population Bomb to the work of groups like Zero Population Growth (first re-branded as simply “ZPG” and currently known as “Population Connection”), the specter of unsupportable population growth has been one of the environmental movement’s greatest scare stories. It’s the kind of all-encompassing disaster that was supposed to be hard to ignore — even if you didn’t care about the environment, the pitch goes, you have to be worried about overpopulation! You don’t want millions of people to starve to death or see wars spawned by a fight over food and scarce natural resources, do you?
But how does a concern over famines and resources depletion translate into the vicious anti-human ideology of a James Lee? The answer is clear — combine one old theory about the inherent limitations of mankind with one new theory about the alienation of human beings from the rest of the natural world. Lee provides us with all of the leads we need when he demands that the Discovery Channel “develop shows that mention the Malthusian sciences.”

Gov. Christie vetoes $7.5 million grant to Planned Parenthood
The New Jersey Real-Times reports:
Saying “the state simply cannot fund every worthy program,” Gov. Chris Christie today vetoed a bill that would have restored $7.5 million for family planning clinics that provide birth control and health screenings to thousands of uninsured women.
Christie said the tight budget hit “worthwhile programs” and it was important to cut spending “to levels that the taxpayers can afford. Unchecked spending and out of control budget shortfalls of the past will not make it past the governor’s desk.”
Although Christie said he opposed family planning bill purely on budgetary grounds, his decision is likely to stoke an ongoing ideological debate among conservative Republicans on whether the state ought to financially support clinics run by Planned Parenthood, which provides abortions and birth control — an issue brought up several times by Assemblyman Jay Webber (R-Morris), the Republican state Committee chairman.
“The taxpayers of New Jersey are under no obligation to fund the radical and failed social agenda of Planned Parenthood,’’ said Marie Tasy, executive director for New Jersey Right to Life. “We commend Governor Christie for his steadfast opposition to restoring these funds.”
Blogger Cubachi calls it “a win for the pro-life movement and fiscal conservatism“:
As I’ve noted a few days ago, Governor Chris Christie was attacked by two liberal, pro-abortion legislators in Trenton, Sen. Loretta Weinberg (D-Bergen) and Assemblywoman Linda Stender (D-Union) calling on Governor Christie to restore $7.5 million of funding to 58 “family planning centers” Christie made cuts to.
Governor Christie made it clear that the state had to make cuts, including Planned Parenthood. As we all know, Planned Parenthood has shady operations, including abortions among young girls without the consent of the parents.
Governor Christie today vetoed $7.5 million in grants to 58 Planned Parenthood clinics all around New Jersey. Governor Christie is pro-life, but according to the governor, this is a decision based upon the economic circumstances of this state.
President Obama Lied About Not Using Federal Funds for Abortions
In spite of President Obama’s executive order – that he said would assure that no federal funds would be pay for abortions under the new health care law – the federal government is now paying for abortions.
CitizenLink and its pro-life allies issued repeated warnings about the possibility. Obama took issue with those claims in a 2009 speech to a joint session of Congress:“And one more misunderstanding I want to clear up,” he said, “under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions.”
But, the Obama Administration is now quietly subsidizing nearly all forms of abortions in Pennsylvania, according to a recently uncovered plan – referred to as the ‘Rendell-Sebelius plan’ – designed to circumvent public scrutiny and Obama’s executive order.

Obama Administration Approves First Direct Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Through New High-Risk Insurance Pools
If you want proof that President Obama’s Executive Order on taxpayer-funded abortion was a sham, look no further than Pennsylvania, says House Republican Leader John Boehner (Ohio).
Boehner and other Republicans point to reports that the Health and Human Services Department is giving Pennsylvania $160 million to set up a new high-risk insurance pool that will cover any abortion that is legal in the state.
“The fact that the high-risk pool insurance program in Pennsylvania will use federal taxpayer dollars to fund abortions is unconscionable,” Boehner said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Just last month at the White House, I asked President Obama to provide the American people with a progress report on the implementation of his Executive Order, which purports to ban taxpayer-funding of abortions. Unfortunately, the President provided no information, and the American people are still waiting for answers.”
President Obama pledged that under his health care plan “no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place.”

US Taxpayers to Subsidize Abortion Through New UN Agency
Time for Americans to pull out of the radical leftist farce known as the ”United Nations”.
The U.S. will subsidize a new $500-million United Nations agency that conservatives say will likely promote an abortion agenda.
In what the United Nations deemed as a historic move, the U.N. General Assembly unanimously voted on July 2 to approve “U.N. Women,” an agency intended to accelerate progress in achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment.Currently, the United States pays for 22 percent of the U.N.’s core budget.
The new agency is drawing negative reaction from conservative leaders concerned that the U.N. will use taxpayer dollars to take a step toward a worldwide right to abortion.
“This will be a massive waste of taxpayer funds,” Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women for America, told CNSNews.com. “It’s a jobs program for women with elitist views and, like every other U.N. agency, will be plagued by waste, fraud and abuse. To help women who really need it, funding should go straight to the people and programs doing the work, not a bureaucratic middle-man that will host expensive conferences and lavish salaries.”
She called the agency’s workings a “surreptitious” effort, believing that the agency’s agenda extends much further than promoting abortion.
“The priority of the leaders who orchestrated the development of this ‘uber-agency’ is sexual and reproductive rights. That means abortion and sexual license — homosexual, lesbian, prostitution, etc.,” she told CNSNews.com.
Furthermore, she said that the agency would move to forcefully impose its views on the rest of society.
“This agency would use power and money to coerce countries to accept their policy and legal demands. With a high-level position of Under-Secretary-General and offices within countries, it can work top-down and bottom-up to pressure governments to do what it wants,” she said.

White House Backs Kenyan Constitution Allowing Abortion
Obama is offering incentives to Kenya to approve a controversial new constitution that would legalize abortion for the first time…even though our laws forbid the government to promote abortion abroad.
The Obama administration is offering incentives to Kenya to approve a controversial new constitution that would legalize abortion for the first time, promising that passage will “allow money to flow” into the nation’s coffers, including U.S. aid.
But there’s a hitch to that pledge. A federal law known as the Siljander Amendment passed in 2006 makes it illegal for the U.S. government to lobby on abortion in other countries — and three U.S. lawmakers say they want a federal investigation into the promises made by the administration.

Louisiana House Unanimously Sends Pro-Life Ultrasound Bill to Governor Jindal
Louisiana women will now be required to face the reality of the life they are about to destroy before aborting, giving them an opportunity to be fully informed before making a life-altering decision.
Liberals claim that it’s hypocritical for conservatives to support this kind of “government intrusion”. I may be opposed to government sticking its nose in places where it doesn’t belong, but murder happens to be one of the few areas within their jurisdiction! What are liberals whining about? They’ve still managed to keep abortion as the only form of legal murder in this country! Should a killer not be at least required to face their potential victim?
If liberals really believed that it’s just a “blob of tissue,” they would have no problem because the ultrasound would prove it and give the woman peace of mind, right? The truth is, they KNOW it’s a baby, and don’t want women to recognize the truth of what abortion REALLY does! Hopefully this will empower more women to finally recognize the pro-death movement’s lies for what they really are!
The Louisiana state House unanimously approved an ultrasound bill today that will help women get a view of their unborn child before deciding to have an abortion. The state Senate has already passed the measure, which now heads to pro-life Governor Bobby Jindal and will be signed into law shortly.
The measure would give women something abortion centers don’t normally provide: a chance to see an ultrasound of their unborn child before the abortion.
When used in pregnancy centers, women considering an abortion who see the ultrasound change their mind about the abortion about 80 percent of the time.
The House voted 79-0 for Senate Bill 528 sponsored by pro-life Democratic Sen. Sharon Broome of Baton Rouge
The House voted 79-0 for Senate Bill 528 sponsored by pro-life Democratic Sen. Sharon Broome of Baton Rouge
“This is a bill that empowers women,” Broome said in committee.
The measure originally required anyone seeking an abortion to listen to a detailed description of the ultrasound of the unborn baby and to receive a photograph of the ultrasound but those requirements were changed in the committee process to make them optional and giving women a chance to sign a document saying they were offered the chance to view the ultrasound.
Report Finds Women Who Refuse Abortions Often Face Violent Attacks, Death
Women who refuse requests from their husbands or boyfriends to have abortions are often finding themselves subject to violent attacks that sometimes result in their deaths. That’s the finding of a new report from the Elliot Institute, which calls the problem a “widespread epidemic.”
The new report, Forced Abortion in America, is drawing attention to attacks on pregnant women and girls in order to prevent them from continuing their pregnancies.
It points out a “widespread epidemic of unwanted, coerced and forced abortions taking place in the United States.”
The report notes how research suggests most abortions are likely unwanted or coerced, with one survey of women who had abortions finding that 64 percent said they felt pressured by others to abort.
The same survey found 80 percent of women said they did not receive the counseling they needed to make a decision — even though more than half said they felt rushed or uncertain about the abortion.
The consequences for those who refuse abortion can be dangerous and even deadly, according to the report, which details cases of women and girls facing violent attacks or murder for resisting abortion.
Studies of death rates among pregnant women in the U.S. have found that homicide is the leading cause of death among pregnant women, the authors say.
United Nations Shuts Out Pro-Life Groups at Mexican World Conference of Youth
Can you imagine what kind of moral relativist poison they’ll pump your kids heads full of once they’ve sequestered your parental rights via the UNCRC treaty? There’s always been a spiritual battle for the minds of the next generation, but now it’s going global, and the Secular Humanist agenda is to do away with Judeo-Christian values entirely.
The United Nations (UN) is now preparing to kick off the International Year of Youth. The Government of Mexico will host a world conference on youth in August that will produce a ministerial declaration on youth and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Conference organizers hope that the document will influence the high-level review on the Millennium Development Goals that takes place in September at the UN General Assembly.
While the Mexican World Conference on Youth (WCY) is not an official UN conference, it is being supported by several UN agencies, including: the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as well as other multilateral organizations.
Sources close to the conference have expressed concern over UNFPA’s involvement in the planning process and “support” to the organizing committee after the Mexican government asked the UN for help. UNFPA is said to be paying for the flights of select non-governmental organization (NGO) participants. As part of its “vision for youth,” UNFPA has increasingly pushed for young people’s access to “sexual and reproductive health information, education, commodities and services.”
Threat to Parents’ Rights a Bigger Issue than Rights of a Child
Pro-life groups find useful tool in Obamacare
Pro-life proponents are using a provision in the new health reform law to limit abortion coverage by private insurers.
An obscure part of the law allows states to restrict abortion coverage by private plans operating in new insurance markets. Capitalizing on that language, abortion foes have succeeded in passing bans that, in some cases, go beyond federal statutes.
“We don’t consider elective abortion to be health care, so we don’t think it’s a bad thing for fewer private insurance companies to cover it,” said Mary Harned, attorney for Americans United for Life, a national organization that wrote a model law for the states.
Abortion rights supporters are dismayed.
Congressional Probe Sought on Obama Backing Kenya’s Pro-Abortion Constitution
Did the Obama administration spend taxpayer dollars illegally promoting the pro-abortion draft constitution that would have Kenya join the ranks of those nations that allow virtually unlimited abortions? That’s what three members of Congress want to know, and they are seeking a federal investigation to find out.
As LifeNews.com reported, US Ambassador to Kenya Michael Ranneberger called last month on the African nation’s political leaders to rally the people to pass the referendum.
Ranneberger issued a statement praising the Kenya parliament for passing the proposed constitution and urging President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga to rally support for it.
He also suggested the Obama administration would fund a national campaign to persuade the people to adopt the document.
In a letter to Inspectors General of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Government Accountability Office (GAO), Reps. Chris Smith of New Jersey, Darrell Issa of California and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida outline their concerns.
“Kenya’s new proposed constitution, which will be subject to a public referendum in August 2010, includes two articles that, if adopted, would enshrine a new constitutional right to abortion in Kenya and dramatically change Kenya’s abortion law,” they write.
The lawmakers wrote, “The Obama Administration’s advocacy in support of Kenya’s proposed constitution may constitute a serious violation of the Siljander Amendment and, as such, may be subject to civil and criminal penalties under the Antideficiency Act.”
Did Philly gov’t pressure a teen to get an abortion?
This young girl is going to be scarred for life.
Mind the question mark, because there are a few versions of the story as to how a case worker from the Philadelphia Department of Human Services procured a late-term abortion for a teen in the care of a foster mother who opposed it. The Daily News reports on allegations from the foster mother that not only did DHS pressure her foster daughter into the abortion, they threatened to take away the teen’s other child if she put up a fight over it. DHS says that a language difference created a misunderstanding:
A DEPARTMENT OF Human Services caseworker pressured a pregnant Mayfair teenager to undergo a late-term abortion by threatening to take away either her toddler or her unborn baby if she had the child, according to the teen’s foster mother.
The alleged strong-arm tactic happened one day after DHS learned of the pregnancy, when the girl was about 22 weeks pregnant, according to her foster mother and the girl’s social worker, Marisol Rivera. …
The Daily News also learned that:
* DHS got a Family Court judge’s order allowing it to take the girl for an abortion, after the girl’s birth mother refused to approve the procedure.
* By the time DHS arranged for the abortion – in March – the girl was 24 weeks pregnant. She had to undergo the procedure in New Jersey because abortions in Pennsylvania are illegal at 24 weeks.
* Although it is DHS policy that a DHS worker accompany any minor who has a court-ordered medical procedure, this did not happen on the girl’s first attempt to have the abortion. That attempt failed when the clinic wouldn’t accept her Medicaid card and wanted cash, according to the foster mother. A DHS worker did accompany the girl on a later, successful, attempt.
* Rivera, the girl’s social worker, said that she was fired by Concilio, which subcontracted with DHS to provide care, after she initially refused to accompany the teen for the abortion.
The “misunderstanding” explanation is certainly plausible, but given the foster mother’s story, it seems unlikely. She told the Daily News that the teen was excited to learn that the child would be a boy, had told her toddler that a younger brother was coming, and had already started picking out the name. The teen’s birth mother confirms this, telling the newspaper that the teen had come back from her ultrasound happy, and then suddenly she found out that her daughter had gone for an abortion.
It’s not the first time that the birth mother says her daughter had been bullied by DHS. The case worker became agitated when the teen had not taken her 1-year-old daughter to day care, and threatened to take the baby away at that point. The paper doesn’t give the context for that threat — had the teen left the child alone, or did she just not use a day care center the case worker wanted? If the former, then the case worker should have separated the baby from its mother then and there, and given that DHS didn’t initiate that kind of action, it would appear that the issue was less legal than preference.
Either way, it may surprise Philadelphia residents that they’re paying officials to procure abortions for teenagers — especially abortions that are illegal in the state of Pennsylvania. In the last three-and-a-half years, 119 of 335 minors in DHS care who became pregnant had abortions, and eight of them had to be performed out of state. DHS cannot use its budget money for abortions, but the city gets around that by using its general fund instead.
Study Confirms Autism Boom Correlates with Aborted Fetal DNA in Vaccines
Sounds like “mad cow disease” for humans.
Washington, DC, April 20, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A recent study by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has confirmed 1988 as a “change point” in the rise of Autism Disorder rates in the U.S. – a date that pro-life leaders say correlates with the introduction of fetal cells for use in vaccines.
While the EPA study does not speculate into the cause of the jump in autism rates, and makes no mention of aborted fetal cells, the researchers point out that it “is important to determine whether a preventable exposure to an environmental factor may be associated with the increase.”
According to the pro-life group Sound Choice Pharmaceutical Institute (SCPI), which specializes in vaccine research, that “environmental factor” may well be the use of aborted fetal cells in vaccines.
The group pointed out in its most recent newsletter that 1988 is the same year the U.S. Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices began recommending a second dose of the MMR vaccine, which included cells derived from the tissue of aborted babies.
Analyses of autism rate data published by SCPI identify 3 clear change points in U.S. autism disorder trends: 1981, 1988 and 1995, all of which the groups claims roughly correlate with the use of vaccines (Meruvax, MMRII, and Chickenpox) that were cultivated with the use of tissue from aborted children. The group says that it has been unable to identify any other factor that might correlate to the change in autism rates.
“The only environmental event correlating with these statistical autism trend ‘change points’ which would impact almost all children was the introduction of vaccines produced using human fetal cells and containing residual human DNA and cellular debris,” said SCPI.
